Lynyrd Skynrd‘s bassist, Ean Evans passed away on May 6th at the age of 48 in Mississippi after a long battle with cancer. It is sad because it seems like the bassists have a bad luck; Evans joined the band in 2001 after the original bassist, Leon Wilkeson passed away.
On the band’s website they stated:
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of longtime Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist Ean Evans. Ean put up a valiant battle with an aggressive form of cancer and he will be sorely missed by family, friends and fans.”
It is said that the band will continue on tour with a replacement on bass.
This is a “High Noon” by Ean Evans. He literally plays all the instruments on the song except drums. And, that is him singing.
This is the original recording of “Free Bird” so it isn’t with Evans but it is a classics Lynyrd Skynyrd song and I thought it was appropriate anyway.
