The soundtrack for the movie which stars Zooey Deschanel comes out July 14th. It is perfect for those who died when the sountrack to Garden State came out. You know what I mean… I was younger and was just starting to realize what good music was and was astounded when one sountrack had Iron and Wine, Nick Drake, The Postal Service, Frou Frou—and so many other great finds that I had not discovered.
This movie’s soundtrack is the same deal. There are great artists from beginning to end including, Feist, Regina Spector, Hall & Oates, The Smiths, Mychael Danna, Mumm–and of course, She & Him (which if you didn’t know is Zooey Deschanel herself and Matt Ward). So, the CD is guaranteed to satisfy. She & Him will be covering a Smiths song and is said to be uber good.
So get excited and keep on the lookout for it. The only negative is that most of the songs aren’t new, for example “Mushaboom” by Feist was already released on her previous album as was “Hero” by Regina Spektor. But hey, the soudtrack creates a good mix and twas the same problem with the Garden State sountrack. Hopefully though, you will make new discoveries and find new artists that you didn’t know were out there. And
that is a poisitive that makes buying the soundtrack worth it.
